TEFL Certificate Program Admission Requirements, Visa Information and Application


MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

-     Undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts degree) in hand by May 31, 2010.
-     Evidence of having studied a second language


ENGLISH REQUIREMENT FOR NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS

-     Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 85 (or its equivalent) or IELTS Band 7 score,
OR
-     Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited institution in the U.S. or other country in which English is the primary language of instruction


VISA INFORMATION

Non-US citizens who are not currently residing in the US cannot attend the Saturday on-campus practicum on a tourist visa. If you are a foreign student requiring a student visa to attend the practicum, please apply for the week-long practicum sessions in June. You may choose either Monday-Friday (June 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11) or Monday-Friday (June 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18).


APPLICATION PROCEDURE

To apply, your Application Packet must contain:

• A completed Application Form
• An original university transcript or diploma
• An original TOEFL or IELTS score printout (non-native English speakers only)
• Tuition ($3,700) and non-refundable Application Fee ($100). Georgetown students, graduates and employees are eligible for a 10% tuition discount. Current GU employees may use Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) benefits. This program is also approved for Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.

CLED will accept money orders, personal checks drawn on a U.S. bank, or wire
transfer. Please contact cled@georgetown.edu for transfer information. Checks should
be made payable to "Georgetown University."

The TEFL Program is run in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall 2009 application period is now closed.


Spring 2010 TEFL Program

• Online: January 4 – May 14, 2010
• Practicum at GU: Saturdays (April 10, 17, 24, and May 1, 8), OR Monday-Friday (June 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11) OR Monday-Friday (June 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18)

TUITION AND FEES: $3,800 (includes $100 non-refundable application fee) due at time of application.

10% tuition discount for Georgetown University students, graduates and employees.

Current GU employees may use Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) benefits.

The TEFL certificate program is approved for Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.
