Practicum Information
After 19 weeks of online coursework, TEFL trainees will come to Georgetown for a week of full-time, intensive classwork and teaching practice. This will take place in either May or June and trainees are expected to make their own travel and housing arrangements. The information below has been gathered to assist you in your preparations.
HOUSING DURING THE PRACTICUM
Please note that short term housing in the Washington DC area is in high demand in the Summer. Participants are advised to make their reservations early.
On-Campus:
Housing may be available at the Georgetown University dorms on campus.
Cost per day:
Shared room (bath down the hall): $30/day - $46/day
Shared room with attached bath: $52/day - $60/day

Off-Campus:
- Homestays allow participants to live in the home of an American host. Contact Just Like Home for information and application.
- Hotels: there are several hotels within walking distance or on the Georgetown University shuttle routes (Rosslyn, Dupont Circle, 2115/2121 Wisconsin Avenue NW). Hotels within walking distance include:
- Georgetown University Conference Center Hotel
- Georgetown Inn
- Latham Hotel
- Holiday Inn Georgetown

TUITION AND FEES: $3,700 (including $100 non-refundable application fee) due at time of application
10% tuition discount for Georgetown University graduates and employees
APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 1, 2008

Textbooks: $150 (estimated)Medical insurance: $39 (mandatory for non-U.S. applicants)
Cost of housing, meals and personal expenses during the practicum: $700 (estimated)
Refund Policy:
Withdrawal before January 5: 100% tuition cost
Withdrawal before January 6: 75% tuition cost
Withdrawal before January 7: 50% tuition cost
No refunds after January 7, 2009
