Practicum Information
The practicum is taught over 5 days, either Saturdays starting April 10, 2010 or consecutive days in the weeks starting June 7 and June 14, 2010. This 5-day intensive program takes place at Georgetown University and includes class observation and teaching practice. During the practicum, trainees teach lessons using the principles learned in the online course. Each day's schedule will be from approximately 9 am to 5 pm.
Trainees are expected to make their own travel and housing arrangements. The information below has been gathered to assist you in your preparations.
GETTING TO GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY
Practicum classes will be held on the Main Campus of Georgetown University. Click here for driving directions, parking information, public transport options and university shuttle schedules (not available on Saturdays).
HOUSING DURING THE PRACTICUM
Please note that short term housing in the Washington DC area is in high demand in the Summer. Participants are advised to make their reservations early.
On-Campus:
Housing may be available at the Georgetown University dorms on campus.
Estimated cost per day:
Shared room (bath down the hall): $30/day - $46/day
Shared room with attached bath: $52/day - $60/day

Off-Campus:
- Homestays allow participants to live in the home of an American host. Contact Just Like Home for information and application.
- Hotels: there are several hotels within walking distance or on the Georgetown University shuttle routes (Rosslyn, Dupont Circle, 2115/2121 Wisconsin Avenue NW). Hotels within walking distance include:

- Holiday Inn Georgetown

MEDICAL INSURANCE DURING THE PRACTICUM
Non-U.S. participants will be automatically enrolled in the Georgetown University Summer EFL insurance program. Details about coverage will be available in 2010.

The TEFL Program is run in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall 2009 application period is now closed.

• Practicum at GU: Saturdays (April 10, 17, 24, and May 1, 8), OR Monday-Friday (June 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11) OR Monday-Friday (June 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18)

Refund Policy:
Before the first day of class: 100% tuition cost
On the second day of class: 75% tuition cost
On the third day of class: 50% tuition cost
No refunds after third day of class.
